Arthur Maurer was raised on the southside of Chicago. From the time he was in second grade he visited the Adler planetarium each month to see the new show. After a career in sales, Arthur started doing volunteer astronomy work with Will County and wrote some articles on astronomy for the local newspaper. Currently, he is director of the Trackman Planetarium at Joliet Jr. College.
