Art Pallone is an amateur astronomer in its truest meaning. He recalls his wonder as a child at the view of a maze-colored, nearly-full moon in the morning sky from his bedroom window that sparked a passion still with him today.
Art's most recent expression of that passion is as founding director of TERMS Telescopes in Education and Research at Murray State a hybrid program that serves as a platform to do student-lead research and to educate both the university community and the general public of the region by providing access to the telescopes of Murray State University. He also brings astronomy to the public through involvement in the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers.
In his professional life, Art is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Murray State University where he teaches engineering to students in the Department of Engineering and Physics and introductory astronomy to mostly non-science majors. His research ranges from experimental nuclear astrophysics to determination of material properties of objects and electronic devices by ion beam analysis.
Outside of astronomy and work, Art is an avid outdoorsman who likes to hike, swim and fish and is always up for a good story around the campfire.
