Barbara Fontana Natland recently married and moved to Miami to be with her husband. Previously she lived on the island of Kauai for over thirty years where she raised a family of two children, taught in the public school system and more recently began enjoying the new born generation of grandsons.
Barbara was raised in California and completed her formal education in the California School system. She taught elementary school in California until she moved to Kauai.
Teaching has always been a joy for her. A highlight of Barbara's teaching was when the four-woman team applied to become a NASA Explorer School and were chosen as one of the first 50 Explorer Schools in the nation. Subsequent training with cutting edge NASA scientists of space exploration brought education to new heights for her colleagues and her. They were able to impart an enthusiasm that could not have been produced without their training.
Until recently, Barbara and her husband were in Rome for three months while he engaged in some scientific research at the University. She enjoyed walking through three thousand years of glorious history and art. Upon returning home, Barbara looks forward to becoming involved with her new Miami community.
