Becky is an active amateur astronomer with the Statesboro Astronomy Club, and Assistant Planetarium Director for the Department of Physics at Georgia Southern University.
She currently holds a BS degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina.
Becky is married to David Lowder, and has two sons who enjoy science as much as she does.
She enjoys sharing the excitement of astronomy and space exploration with students of all ages, parents, teachers, and with the surrounding communities.
She holds many public outreach programs, teacher workshops, and enjoys sharing incredible views of the universe through her 6 inch Newtonian reflector- Dobsonian telescope. She also enjoys observing and collecting data on occultations and grazes, as well as watching shuttle launches when possible.
A JPL Solar System Ambassador since 1999, she looks forward to continuing her mission to inspire young future astronomers, scientists, and perhaps even astronauts to take those first footsteps on Mars.
