Brenda Culbertson is a native of Kansas with Native American heritage. Currently she lives on the Prairie Band of Potatwatomi Nation Reservation in northeast Kansas.
She is a three-time graduate from Washburn University, Topeka, with the following degrees: Associates of Arts: Natural Science and Mathematics (Physics Emphasis); Bachelor of Arts (Print Journalism); and Master of Liberal Studies (Early Historic and Prehistoric Astronomy).
Brenda ran the astronomy outreach program at Washburn University for several years as a student worker before being hired as staff, serving 10 more years. She ran Crane Observatory for public observing sessions and research and assisted in renovating the antique telescope that was built in 1889. She also ran the planetarium at Washburn University and created automated shows for the digital projector.
Currently Brenda is doing public observing sessions, presentations, and photography freelance. She also writes online blogs for herself and others.
