Photo of AmbassadorCarol Benignus was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but has lived most of her life in Houston, Texas. She has attended Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and University of Western Sydney, having studied special education, music, theology, and astronomy. Carol was a stay at home mom, then taught public school for 14 years. She took retirement due to chronic illness with lupus, and now seeks opportunities to make contributions to the community through volunteer activities. Foremost of these is her work with the Klein High School Astronomy Club. She has taken two teams of students to the NASA Mars Space Flight Facility at ASU to participate in the Mars Student Imaging Project, and will continue to support this program.
