Cliff DeLacy, astronomer/educator for more than 45 years in Solano and Napa County area, has hosted star parties for the general public and taught astronomy to students of all ages. He retired from Mare Island Naval Shipyard after teaching radiological control, nuclear physics, and occupational safety and health programs for more than 35 years. He received his Eagle Scouting rank in 1951 and has been a scoutmaster with troop 78 in American Canyon and troop 64 in Vallejo, California. As a current substitute in the Napa Valley and Fairfield-Susiun Unified School districts he teaches all subjects and promotes and interest in astronomy and space exploration. Mr. DeLacy has his own professional observatory and telescope with which he is engaged in searching for asteroids and comets as a volunteer to assist the NASA Near Earth Asteroid Tracking Team. He is the former owner of Celestial Systems, The Astronomy and Science Center of Northern California. Promoting an interest to enhance awareness in astronomy and the space program is of major importance to Mr. DeLacy. A former sign at the entrance to his store read, "The Future of the World walks through My door, for they are your children whose dreams and knowledge will someday lead us to the stars."
