Darrell Heath was born in Detroit, Michigan but raised in Arkansas and had a passion for the natural world from a very early age. His youth was one of expeditions into local wood lots in search of wary reptiles, canvassing rock quarries for fossils and laying under a night sky and wondering what lay beyond our own planet. In most regards that has not changed. He still hunts reptiles and (much to the annoyance of fellow travelers) will often pull the vehicle to the side of the road in order to explore a likely looking rock pile or quarry in search of ancient life. His neighbors often speculate as just why he is supine upon the lawn and staring up into the night sky. The telescope next to him gives them a clue. By day Darrell works in a biology department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and by night he can mostly be found on the other end of a telescope. Darrell also enjoys a range of things such as reading, traveling, enjoying art and film and being with his partner and friends.
