Dean
Kavalkovich is an engineer at jet engine manufacturer
Pratt & Whitney. His experience includes control
systems, gas turbine performance, engine diagnostics,
and software engineering. He has participated in commercial
and military aircraft engine programs, as well as in
industrial gas turbine programs.
Dean's
first job was as a model rocketry counselor at a summer camp.
Since then, he has gone on to earn a Bachelor's Degree
in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie-Mellon University in
1985 and Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute in 1991, and has spent nearly
twenty years at Pratt & Whitney. He still enjoys model
rocketry and other air and space hobbies such as amateur astronomy
and kite-flying. He is also a life-long space enthusiast,
and a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics (AIAA).
