I
was born and raised in Kansas and graduated for Kansas
State University. I feel a close link with my midwestern
heritage. Early on, my parents taught me a deep abiding
respect for history and the part it plays in the future.
I firmly believe that if you don't know where you've
been, you won't know where you're going. As a small
child, I remember how life would stop and everyone would
gather around small black and white TV sets to watch
as America took it's first steps into space. In a period
of ten years, we moved from those baby steps to the
leap that landed a man on the moon. As I grew into adulthood
I never forgot those images that were burned into my
memories. I have 5 children of my own and taught for
20 years. I have always felt that learning should be
an exciting adventure in to the world of the unknown.
I look forward to passing on my enthusiasm as a NASA
Solar System Ambassador.
