I
was born in Hawaii in 1953 and moved to Oregon in 1964. I
became interested in rocketry while in grade school and in
1965 became one of the first persons to launch model rockets
and organize a rocketry-related club. While in high school
I taught rocketry and space science at my local Science Museum
(OMSI) and maintained my involvement in rocketry and astronomy.
One of the highlights in my life occurred in 1971 (age 17)
when I was invited by NASA to the launching of Apollo 14.
I attended Vassar College and Portland State University with
a degree in the Humanities. I have been a senior collateral
examiner for the last 14 years and continue to be involved
in a number of outreach projects, including neighborhood associations,
my city's Cultural Commission and Parks Design committees,
as well as programs for my children's school district.
