Donald Aucoin, Jr. has been interested in astronomy and space ever since he was young. One Christmas his parents gave him a telescope. With that small instrument, young Donald explored the moon.

When he was in high school, he used the wages from his first job to purchase a three-inch f/10 Edmunds reflector which Donald used to explore the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars along with many deep sky objects. At that point, he was hooked and joined several amateur astronomy groups becoming the president of one of them.

Donald has volunteered for many years doing various projects, including giving talks for church groups and hospitals.

He is a fan of the television show Star Trek and joined a Trek fan club becoming the person they asked to talk to the membership about space. Donald also is a frequent speaker at boy scout camps and camps for the disabled.
