Evan Justin is a retreaded environmental scientist from US Army Corps of Engineers, teaching planetology and amateur astronomy since 1991 on Vashon Island, Washington. He applied for the Educator Astronaut Program, making it as far as the last 200 (out of 8,000 applications) and was inducted into the Network of Educator Astronaut Teachers (NEAT). Justin partipated in REVEL 2000 research cruise on RV Tommy Thompson to the Endevour Hydrothermal Vent Field, Princeton University Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Environmental Science Institute, Project AstroBio, Intel Teach to the Future, GLOBE, CIPE, and James Maddison University's VISM. He learned how to build a Dobsonian telescope from John Dobson as an undergrad student.
