Florence Brammer was nine years old when Alan Shepard had his 15-minute suborbital flight and hasn't stopped looking up since. She was privileged to be able to experience, as a child and teenager, those indelible years of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. Florence grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and studied journalism, religious studies, special education, ancient near eastern studies and law in Bloomington (I.U.), Jerusalem and Cincinnati. In 1982, she moved from New York City to Minneapolis, where she has practiced labor law for over 20 years. Her husband David is a public school teacher; they are blessed with three daughters, all of whom have managed to resist Florence's relentless lobbying for space-related careers. Her other passions include contemporary art, theatre, dance, music, printmaking, reading, women's basketball and being a tour guide for the Walker Art Center. Florence is thrilled to share her enthusiasm for space exploration as a Solar System Ambassador.
