Dr. Shanos is a consultant pharmacist by profession and NASA/JPL Ambassador by passion. Dr. Shanos founded Astronomical Education & Research in 1985. Since then Greg has lectured extensively on various astronomical topics. Dr. Shanos has submitted observation data on meteors, comets and grazing occultations that have been published by the International Meteor Association, International Occultation Timing Association and Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. Greg has also participated in distributive computing projects such as SETI@home and STARDUST@home. An avid meteorite collector, Dr. Shanos has published over 12 review articles in METEORITE magazine regarding the significance of organic compounds in meteorites. An avid eclipse chaser, Greg has witnessed nine total solar eclipses, two annular and the entire transit of Venus from Greece. Recent advances in digital technology have led Dr. Shanos into planetary and deep sky astrophotography.
