Ian Timberlake is currently a fifth-year student at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa studying Aerospace Engineering. He has long had an interest in space and aviation. Starting at the age of 4 he wanted to become an Air Force pilot. After 3 years in the USAF ROTC program, medical conditions prevented that dream from becoming a reality. At the age of 15, Ian became one of the youngest to achieve High Power Rocketry certification. He went on to compete and place in rocketry competitions across the country.
Ian also is an opinion columnist for an internationally recognized collegiate daily newspaper. He often writes about science and space and the importance of community education and involvement. The love for space translates to nature on Earth, for Ian. He finds wonder in the great outdoors and is a regular proponent for getting outside and enjoying the great orb we live on that floats through the vacuum of space.
He is highly open to discussion of any kind, no matter how out-of-the-box and will always be interested in speaking with or for anyone on any occasion so long as it relates to space/science.
