Janet
Wood became a space science enthusiast after attending
The Planetary Society's "Planetfest" in 1997,
which took place in conjunction with the Mars Pathfinder
Landing. She holds a Master's of Science degree in geoscience
education from Mississippi State University. Her Solar
System Ambassador lecture/slide presentations currently
include "The Nine Planets", "The Many
Faces of the Sun", "Mission to Mars",
and "Volcanoes of the Solar System". She is
also the author of an extensive website about Jupiter's
volcanic moon, Io (http://planetaryexploration.net/jupiter/io).
Janet is an avid hiker, amateur geologist, and space
science enthusiast. She lives in Visalia, California
with her husband and two cats, and teaches there in
the fashion department at College of the Sequoias.
