Jay
Friedland has been fascinated by astronomy and space exploration
since he was a small child. He is an avid amateur astronomer
and eclipse chaser. He has traveled the world to observe many
solar total solar eclipses, and a variety or other astronomical
phenomena, including the Leonids Meteor Storm. He has collaborated
with professional astronomers on several projects including
imaging for the 2004 Transit of Venus and the discovery of
a double star during a lunar occultation. He enjoys teaching
kids of all ages about many aspects of astronomy, especially
the sun, planets, eclipses, and deep space. One of his greatest
joys is showing someone a view of the stars and planets for
the first time.
