An experienced science educator and health scientist; Dr. Steinhurst's extensive academic and professional preparation includes the earned degrees of Doctor of Medicine, Master of Education, and Bachelor of Science as well as diplomas from the U.S. Army Chemical School, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the International Space Academy. Internationally recognized for high achievement, his personal awards include: the U.S. Meritorious Service Medal, the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, and the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Sylvester, Pope and Martyr. His memberships include: the United States Army Chemical Regiment, the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine, Beta Beta Beta Society, and the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. A JPL Solar System Ambassador, Dr. Steinhurst shares his interest and enthusiasm in unmanned space exploration and science with others through ad hoc and scheduled educational activities, presentations, and symposia.
