Ken Alderson is a self-taught amateur astronomer in Louisville, Kentucky who is in his eight year as president of the Louisville Astronomical Society. During his presidency, he has helped establish a system of astronomy centers in the Kentucky State Park System with the third location coming online in the fall of 2010. Ken enjoys sidewalk astronomy and is very active in teaching scouts about astronomy as well as helping the U of L Rauch Planetarium with their public events. The LAS has also established the James G. Baker Center for Astronomy in Curby, Indiana and the Urban Astronomy Center in Louisville which welcome thousands of visitors annually. Ken lives in Louisville with his wife Mariann. One of the highlights of his presidency was hosting John Dobson for a week.
