Kevin Jarigese is teaching astronomy, geology, and biology at West Mesa High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Through his alma mater, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, and his relationship with the Bureau of New Mexico Mines, Kevin has developed a partnership which will provide assistance and support to the high school. West Mesa is a magnet school in math and science technology serving over 2,500 students.
Currently, West Mesa High School has eight astronomy classes. The astronomy program will expand as students become introduced to the night sky and curiosity in astronomy develops.
West Mesa High School is currently seeking a surplus dome to build an observatory on campus as a way to involve the community in night sky observing.
Kevin is highly involved in astronomy with the Rio Rancho Astronomical Society and, as the founder, he regularly participates in events throughout New Mexico and Colorado.
