Biographical Information:

 

 
Photo of AmbassadorChief Warrant Officer 3 Lionel E. Long is an Instructor pilot in the U.S. Army. He has been in the military for 10 years and flying the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter for 7 years. He has been deployed overseas in Germany and participated in Operation Provide Comfort in Northern Iraq, providing humanitarian aid to the Kurds that live in the region. He has participated in IFOR and SFOR operations in Bosnia.

His love of the sciences goes back to childhood. He has always loved flying and anything that makes him feel closer to the stars. Through personal studies he has closely followed many aerospace developments over the past 15 years. Missions of special interest include, Deep Space 1, Galileo and the future Europa Orbiter. He eagerly looks forward to sharing with others his enthusiasm, love of space science and the current successes of space exploration.
