 As
a child of the 60s, Lorrell grew up with the manned
spaceflight program. She also grew up with wonderful
planetary exploration missions, such as Mariner, Viking,
Pioneer, and Voyager. In high school, Lorrell taught
herself "backyard" astronomy while lying on
a warm car hood with a flashlight and star-chart field
guide. She is an educator with classroom experience
and almost twenty years of work as a science/math editor
for K-12 textbook publishing. Lorrell truly believes
that learning is a lifetime adventure. And, as a member
of this wonderful planet, she believes that one of the
best ways to cherish and protect it is to learn about
its unique place in our solar system as well as in our
universe.
