Mary Beth Crile has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for two years with her husband Patrick. Currently, she is employed by the City of Charlotte as a GIS Analyst as well as an adjunct instructor of geology for Central Piedmont Community College. Mary Beth received her Master of Science degree in Geology from Florida Atlantic University in 2005.
Her love for space began as a child. Mary Beth attended her first shuttle launch at 9 years old when the Shuttle Columbia made its maiden voyage in 1981. While working at the South Florida Science Museum she was very fortunate to have met Buzz Aldrin during a dedication of the planetarium named in his honor.
Mary Beth’s interests include astronomy, geology, photography, kayaking, rafting, tennis, camping, traveling, hiking and helping animals. She has been performing scientific outreach events within her community for almost ten years. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm of space and stars with students of all ages.
