A former public school teacher, Nancy Alima Ali is currently the planetarium manager at Windward Community College in Kaneohe, Hawaii. She worked for five years as an informal science educator at Bishop Museum, bringing science outreach programs to communities across the Hawaiian Islands. Ms. Ali completed a Master of Education degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which focused on integrating astronomy and culture. An avid skywatcher herself, Ms. Ali believes that "we are all skywatchers" and encourages everyone to look up at the night sky to familiarize themselves with their universe.
