After receiving two degrees and teaching for twenty-five years, Patricia Tierney decided to fulfill a life long dream: go to Space Camp for Educators. Her love of space, science, and geography has given her the opportunities to travel across the world. She has lived with Native Americans, floated in crocodile infested waters of the Okavango River, walked the Great Wall of China, and experienced mining operations first hand in her own country. Space Camp for Educators put a new spin on her life and her approach to teaching. It is not just something Patricia does but who she is. Patricia loves sharing the adventure of learning through lessons gathered from NASA which tie into her work with world geography every day. Learning becomes fun and meaningful to Patricia's students, expecially those who attend her afterschool program.
