Margaretha
(Peggy) Motes received a Bachelor of Science Degree
from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and
the Masters of Arts in Education at Ball State University
in Muncie, Indiana. She is currently completing additional
graduate work at Ball State University. Prior to being
named Director of the MCS Planetarium, Peggy taught
in the elementary and secondary schools in Muncie and
Hammond, Indiana.
Completing the SPICA (Support Program for Instructional
Competency in Astronomy) at Harvard University and NASA
NEWEST (NASA Educational Workshop for Elementary School
Teachers) at the Lewis Research Center, Peggy continues
to involve students and teachers in east central Indiana
in NASA sponsored projects, workshops, and activities
through programs offered at the Muncie Community Schools
Planetarium.
Member
of the 2001 USA TODAY All American Teacher Team. First
planetarium teacher selected to receive this award.
