He has been active in his community as a out-reach volunteer and docent at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum in addition to serving on its Board of Directors. Rick has volunteered as a counselor for terminally ill patients for the AS Foundation of Orange County: this included 2 years working on the Citizen's Advisory Committee. Rick's education includes an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL and a BS in Biology from California University of Pennsylvania. Rick has been a Dept. of Defense employee for 34 years and retired in 2009. His best assignment was as the Operations Supervisor over the International Space Station Team at the Boeing Huntington Beach facility. He worked as the supervisor of government contract operations for Boeing's last two years while they completed their final hardware and software production that has since become part of the International Space Station as it orbits the earth. He has worked on many programs including the GPS satellites, missiles and NASA R&D programs.
