A life-long learner, Bob Vieth has been interested in space and space exploration as far back as he can remember. At five years old, his imaginary play friend was named Mercury. As a teenager, he eagerly collected NASA technical bulletins and had a stack more than a foot tall. Even now, he is an avid amateur rocket builder and teach workshops on aeronautics, aerospace, and rocketry.
Science and engineering have been Bob's life and livelihood. He has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and worked for years as a research biochemist. He then moved into biochemical engineering and became interested in engineering education. At 45, he left his comfortable job and returned to graduate school to pursue an advanced degree in Gifted and Talented science education. Bob has worked for the past eight years as a STEM Education Outreach Specialist, developing curriculum and professional development workshops for K-12 students and teachers. He has an avid interest for all things science and volunteers his time extensively in getting kids excited about STEM and STEM careers.
