Samuel Moore earned his doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin in the College of Communication in 1998. His teaching topics include minorities in the media, Internet access, and public speaking. He has held professional staff and/or teaching appointments at the University of California Davis, State University of New York Stony Brook, University of Texas at Austin, University of Illinois Urbana, Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota. His professional appointments in higher education include program coordinator, assistant director, director, assistant dean, and associate dean. These appointments included extra-institutional collaborations with K-12 systems, corporations, national laboratories, community organizations, and government agencies. The experiences in these positions included the promotion of undergraduate research, the professional development of graduate students, and the communication of career options in STEM to women and minorities. His current research and teaching involves communicating science to the public to create a citizenry literate in the societal impacts of advances in science and technology.
