Scott was Director of Shiras Planetarium from 1973 until 2002. He is a retired public school science teacher with 29 years of experience. Scott has been an amateur astronomer for 45 years, which includes serving as President of the Marquette Astronomical Society. Currently, he is teaching astronomy labs at Northern Michigan University and involved with their StarLab.
