Shirley Greene was born in Iowa, lived in Florida, and moved to Washington in 6th grade. She graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Education in1981. That year, she got her first job teaching 5th grade in Wyoming. Shirley received her Master¿s of Science in Natural Science from the University of Wyoming. For the past 20 years, she has taught primarily middle school grades (5 ¿ 8). However, through teacher workshops and classes, after-school programs, summer programs, and many other teaching opportunities, Shirley has been able to teach people from pre-kindergarten through adults. For the last 8 years, she has been working with online program e-Mentoring for Student Success (eMSS), for which she is the Life Science Content Facilitator helping first, second, and third year science teachers across the nation be successful. Shirley became involved with NASA through the NASA Educator Workshop in Houston during the summer of 2000, and the following year was trained in the Teacher Academy Project with the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. She started as a Solar System Ambassador in 2003, became a Solar System Educator, and is also a New Horizons Fellow. Presently teaching 7th grade in Billings, Montana, Shirley is the Montana Science Teachers¿ Association President.
