Tom Gwilym's mother says some of his first words were "see the moon!" as he pointed skyward. That is where his interest in space began.
He grew up, and now works as a system administrator for an internet company to pay for his telescopes, hobbies and the roof over his head. On rare clear Seattle nights, Tom usually can be found in his backyard observatory, trying to get the ultimate shot of M51.
He spends cloudy nights tinkering with computer hardware, restoring his Catalina sailboat, working on his "fun job" as a freelance flight instructor, or working on a presentation for the astronomy club of which he is president.
Tom also collects astronaut autographs, artifacts and almost anything else space related. As a Solar System Ambassador, he hopes to introduce more people to the wonders of the night sky.
