Walter has worked 34 years as an electric power generation business analyst performing cost analysis, scheduling and performance reporting for the construction and operation of nuclear power generation stations around the nation. Married for 35 years and living in Atascadero, he was a member and president of the Atascadero Education Foundation supporting K-12 performing arts and STEM education public outreach, including designing and chairing the installation of a hands-on STEM education laboratory in the Monterey Road Elementary School. He is a member and was president of the Central Coast Astronomical Society, owning an 11" diameter Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and a 10" Orion SkyQuest Dobsonian telescope supporting school and community star parties. He is a member of the board of directors of the Endeavour Institute in Santa Maria, devoted to STEM public education outreach through Vandenberg AFB Educator Launch Conferences and school and community STEM education programs. He has two daughters, with his oldest being married and a silver smith jeweler, having a BA degree in Fine Arts from Cal State Fullerton, CA, and his youngest has a BS degree in Physics from Cal Poly State University San Luis Obispo and is pursuing her masters degree in Aerospace Engineering from Cal Poly.
