Workshop on Solar Sail Propulsion
WORKSHOP ON SOLAR SAIL PROPULSION
hosted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Date: Thursday, February 13, 1997
Place: 4800 Oak Grove Drive
Pasadena, California
Building 180, Room 101
Time: 9:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
WORKSHOP TOPICS:
- Mission surveys, benefits and requirements
- Current SOA in solar sails
- Sail fabrication, deployment and control
- Future technology needs
- Technology roadmapping
- Space technology validation tests
The objective of the Workshop is to provide mission planners,
engineers, and scientists the information they require to perform
studies considering use of solar sails, describe the present
state-of-the-art, and to identify the steps necessary that lead
to the development of practical solar sails. Your help is
solicited to assist in defining a technology roadmap and series
of flight validation tests that will make solar sails propulsion
a reality.
