Griffin Images of Comet Hale-Bopp

First image is a 10 minute (600 second) second exposure of Comet Hale Bopp started at 05:47:05 am EST on 1st February 1997. Taken through a red filter. SBIG ST8 CCD image, taken at the prime focus of a 12 inch f5 maksutov telescope. Image has been flat fielded, and gamma and contrast scaled in using Mira.. Image dimensions 31 arcminutes (long right ascension axis) by 20 arcminutes (short declination axis)

The second image has been processed by subtracting a 20 by 20 median filtered version of itself from the original, to reveal structure in the outer regions of the coma.

5 minute exposures through red, green and blue filters were combined to make the third colour image.
