Griffin Images of Comet Hale-Bopp

1. 3 separate 30 second images of Hale Bopp have been flat fielded and combined to create this image. The image was obtained using a 12 inch f5 Maksutov, using a red filter. Field of view is approximately 0.3 degrees by 0.2 degrees. First image started at 05:55 EST, with exposures taken at one minute intervals. Stars look trailed in this image, since it was effectively guided on the comet's motion

2. The original composite image has been magnified by a factor 2 and false-colorized to reveal structure. Note the linear feature to bottom right.
