1. 43 separate 30 second images of Hale Bopp have been flat fielded and combined to create this image. The image was obtained using a 12 inch f5 Maksutov, using a red filter. Field of view is approximately 0.3 degrees by 0.2 degrees. First image started at 05:17 EST with the last image started at 06:13, with exposures. Stars look trailed in this composite image, since it was effectively guided on the comet's motion

2. The original composite image has been magnified by a factor 2 and false-colorized to reveal structure. Note the linear feature to bottom right.
