Both pictures are landscapes illuminated by the moon last night, 3/21/97. both show comet hale-bopp and a local landmark called Heart Mountain, located about 10 miles north of Cody.
The horizontal image was taken with a Canon Ftb and a Vivitar 28-90mm/f2.8 lens set at 90mm/f2.8, mounted on a tripod, and exposed for 1-minute on Fuji 400 Super HG+ film.
The vertical image was exposed in the same manner, but at about 50mm.
From our vantage point in Cody, the comet swings down into heart mtn. and rises above the horizon again about 4 hours later. it dissappers around 10:30pm and rises again about 2:30am. we are located about 25 miles south of the 45th paralell.
