Observers: Joe Gerry, Jane Gibbs
Location: Plum Island, Newbury, Massachusetts
Date: May 6, 1997
This photo was taken May 6th and was perhaps the last hurrah for Hale-Bopp from this viewing location on Plum Island, Newbury, MA. Camera was a Nikon 6006, film Fuji super G 400, lense was Nikkor 35-70mm at f5.6. Observers Joe Gerry and Jane Gibbs were unable to view the comet and cresent moon on the 8th due to cloud cover. Spring weather in New England on the Island has foiled veiwing attempts since. Last succesful sighting was May 11th, but HB was very dim in light cloud cover and local light polution. With this picture we bid fairwell to comet Hale-Bopp!
