Observers: Joe Gerry, Nancy Canali
Location: Amesbury, Massachusetts
Date: April 25, 1997
Image #1 was taken from Mrs. Canali's front porch on Sanborn Terrace with a Nikor 35-70mm AF lense at f5.6. To get the contrast the bottom portion of the view was covered with an envelop while the comet was exposed for 6 seconds.
Image #2 was taken on top of PO Hill. Mrs. Canali can be seen observing the comet. A Nikor 35-70mm AF lense at f5.6 was used and the lower portion of the view was masked with a standard #10 envelop while the comet was exposed for six seconds.
Image #3 is at the Cashman Elementary School where Mrs. Canali is a teacher. The comet is just barely visable in the fork of the tree branch to the right of the sign, which Principal Peter Hoyt worked very hard to obtain for the school. The lower portion of the view was masked while the comet was exposed for six seconds.
Image #4 was taken in the Cashman Elementary School parking lot. Again to allow the comet to appear with the bright lights of the school the lower portion of the view field was masked with an envelop for 6 seconds.
Image #5 was taken on Woodsom Farm in Amesbury, MA using a Quantaray wide angle f2.8 24mm lense and Nikon 6006 camera and a 4 second exposure.
