Notes: Tricolour (RGB) image Comet 1996B2; total of 28 images of 15 sec. each
in "track-and-accumulate" mode (tracking was performed on the comet
nucleus). CCD field shown is about 15' x 10'.
The 4 images shown are the result of various processings of the same
original.
A logaritmic processing is shown on (a) in order to demonstrate the
star-like appearance of the nucleus region.
The result of histogram equalization is shown on (b).
Picture (c) is the grayscale counterpart of (a) observed with a
false-colour LUT.
When a more aggressive processing was used in order to subtract
the coma (d), various "jets" were clearly seen.
