This image was taken at 04:45 UT, 03/12/96 with a 300mm f/2.8 lens and SBIG ST-8 ccd camera. The image scale is 2.57 deg x 1.72 deg. The tail of the comet can be traced at least 2 deg. Last night is the first time I have been able to detect the comet without optical aids. My limiting magnitude was about 5.
