Exp. 10', Tele 135 mm f/3.5. La cometa h ben visibile ad occhio nudo circa 60 sopra l'orizzonte est. La sua magnitudine h di 2,8 ed in foto h visibile una coda di ioni di circa 1,50 ed un'anticoda di quasi 2 gradi. La chioma ha un'estensione di quasi 20'.

A 105-cm reflector detected a close-up R-band image of Comet Hale-Bopp on Jan. 16 20h 59m UT. We used a LN2-cooled CCD camera (AstroCam) equipped with the Cassegrain focus of the 1.05-m reflector (F7.6) at Misato Observatory.
