Observer: Comet Hale-Bopp European Team

CCD image of the nuclear region of Hale-Bopp taken by the Mons telescope (51 cm. f/16), which is located at the Observatorio del Teide and continuosly observing this comet. Field size: aprox. 4 arc minutes.

The first image was taken with a ST-6 CCD camera through a 5 inch, F10 reflector. 5.0 sec exposure. The field of view is 23.1 X17.4 arc min.
The second image is in false color. Image was processed with Mira software.

The first image was taken with a Nikon F3 using a 24mm F 2.8 Nikkor lens. The second with 105mm f2.5 Nikkor lens. Both were taken on Fujicolor 800 FG Print film from 10 to 20 seconds exposure. Film was push processed two stops.

1. 16 x 30 second exposures of Hale Bopp, taken through a Lumicon Swann Band filter have been processed using a rotational gradient filter, with rotation 10 degrees and amplification 10. Images obtained using 12 inch Maksutov, with SBIG ST8 CCD working in HIGH RESOLUTION MODE (9 micron Pixels).
2. 16 x 30 second images of Hale Bopp obtained between 00:48 and 01:10 UT using a Lumicon Swann Band filter and a 12 inch Maksutov telescope has been dark subtracted and flat fielded,and a false colour pallate applied.
3. 16 x 30 second exposuires of Hale Bopp (through a lumicon swann band filter!) have been combined and processed through a sobel edge finding filter to produce this image.

3. 25 x 20 second exposuires of Hale Bopp (through a lumicon swann band filter!), and using CCD in Meidum resolution mode. have been combined and processed through a sobel edge finding filter to produce this image.
