1. A wide-angle shot from the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility's parking area, showing the two Keck domes, Hale-Bopp, and the zodiacal light (reddish with Kodacolor 1000 film). 0620 UT on April 26, 28mm f/2.8, 30 seconds.
2. Hale-Bopp over the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility (which is looking north at a field of high-redshift galaxies we were working on at the time). 0630 UT, April 26, 20 seconds with Kodacolor 1000, 50mm f/1.8. bout half the series of pictures was compromised by wind shake, even with my hand anchoring the tripod head. The California Nebula shows up to the lower right, as do some of the lights of the Kohala coast.
3. I'd been looking forward to setting up this view of Hale-Bopp over the twin domes of the 10-meter Keck telescopes. It was taken just after the preceding view with the same setup.
4. A view of the IRTF and Keck domes beneath Hale-Bopp and the California Nebula. "Warning - objects in mirrors are closer than they appear".
