This is an image of comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) taken by Erich Meyer and Herbert Raab near Linz, Austria, on July 25, 1995 - only two days after the comet has been discovered by two US amateur astronomers, A.Hale and T.Bopp. It is an unfiltered 30 second exposure, taken with a ST-6 CCD camera on a 300mm f/5.2 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at prime focus. The filed of view is about 15' x 20'. The image, centered on 21:30:01 UT, was taken for astrometric purposes.
