Comet Hale-Bopp on March 5, 1997. Taken with a 4" f/5 Tele Vue Genesis apochromatic refractor on a Super Polaris mount, unhypered Kodak PPF400 (400 ASA) film, 8-minute exposure taken 1220 UTC.

Second image is a closer view of the head of Hale-Bopp on March 5, 1997. This much shorter exposure better reveals the shape of the inner nucleus. Taken with a 4" f/5 Tele Vue Genesis apochromatic refractor on a Super Polaris mount, unhypered Kodak PPF400 (400 ASA) film, 30-second exposure taken 1210 UTC.
