Comet Hale-Bopp gracing the desert skies of Joshua Tree National Park on the evening of April 27 at 9PM. Photo taken with 50mm lens at f/2 mounted "piggy-back" on top of old 2.4" Tasco refractor and hand guided for 3 minutes using Fuji 800 film. A small flashlight was used for 4-5 seconds to illuminate the foreground rock formations to add depth to the picture and capture the "naked eye" view of this great scene. As the psalmist so appropriately said "The Heavens Declare the Glory of God". I hope the viewer enjoys these as much as I enjoyed taking them.
