First image: Comet Hale-Bopp over Itaparica Island. In the foreground one can see the place where the portuguese landed in 1549 to found the first capital of Brazil. 50mm lenses and Konica SR-G 3200.
Second image: Comet Hale-Bopp only 3 degrees above the horizon, behind Santo Antonio da Barra fort and lighthouse. 28mm lenses and Konica SR-G 3200.
The comet was of magnitude +0.7 with a naked eye visible ion tail of ~1 deg. and a dust tail of ~2 deg.
